An emergency outage of the EstLink 2 DC cable occurred between Estonia and Finland.
“The cause of the outage is currently unknown. Estonian and Finnish system managers Elering and Fingrid are taking immediate measures to identify the cause of the outage as soon as possible,” Estonian electricity and gas grid operator Elering said.
The company specified that it has ensured the reliability of the power supply in Estonia. By the end of Thursday, 26 December, Elering will use available reserve capacities in the region to compensate for the power.
At the beginning of the year, it was reported that Elering intends to obtain authorisation for the construction of the third EstLink 3 submarine energy cable between Estonia and Finland.
