Russia’s trade turnover with CIS countries has grown by more than 10% – Putin

At the end of 10 months of 2024, trade turnover between Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) totalled $93 billion, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at an informal CIS summit.

“Russia’s trade turnover with CIS members according to the data for January-October added 10.6 per cent and put slightly more than $93 billion,” Vladimir Putin said.

The head of state noted that the macroeconomic indicators of the Commonwealth countries have also improved. At the end of 2024, the growth of gross domestic product in the CIS is projected at 4.7 per cent.

“This is higher than the global ones,” the president pointed out.

In addition, according to Putin, industrial production of the CIS countries for 10 months increased by 4.3%, the volume of freight traffic by 7.4%, and retail trade turnover by 7.7%. The Russian leader also noted that independent financial systems are increasingly being used to service mutual transactions in the Commonwealth countries.

“The share of national currencies in settlements between the Commonwealth members exceeds 85 per cent,” Putin stressed.

Recall, earlier the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin said that Russia is going through a difficult period in Russian history. He emphasised that in the emerging conditions of the new world reality, “someone is striving” to preserve its fading hegemony through Russia.
