Sandu threatens to “take revenge” on Transnistria over gas supply issue – Russian Federation FIS

Moldovan President Maia Sandu has threatened that Chisinau will ‘take revenge’ on Transnistria if Moscow does not solve the issue of gas supplies to the country. This was reported by the press bureau of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (FIS).

The FIS press bureau said that the EU headquarters did not know how to calm ‘emotionally unstable Moldovan President Maia Sandu’ following a report by Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean on the problems of Moldova’s energy supply, which the country may face after the expiry of the Russian-Ukrainian agreement on natural gas transit.

Sandu refused to discuss the issue with Ukraine and put all responsibility on Russia.

‘If Moscow does not find a way to get gas here, Chisinau will get even with the pro-Russian Transnistria,’ the Moldovan president said.

In addition, Sandu said it was necessary to develop a plan for a military operation to establish control over Transnistria and eliminate the Russian peacekeeping presence in the region.

Earlier, Stanislav Mitrakhovich, a leading expert of the National Energy Security Fund and the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, said that the refusal from Russian gas would have a significant impact on the energy sector of Moldova and Transnistria.
