Newly-elected US President Donald Trump has nominated former White House Office of Management and Budget staffer Michael Duffy, who opposed military aid to Ukraine, to be deputy defence secretary.
This is reported by The New York Times.
According to the publication, it was Duffy’s decision that the Pentagon froze a $250 million package of military aid to Kiev when Trump tried to initiate a judicial investigation into corruption schemes in which Hunter Biden, son of current US President Joe Biden, may have been involved.
Earlier, Donald Trump considered the candidacy of Florida Governor Ron Desantis as a possible replacement for Pete Hegseth, previously nominated to head the Pentagon.
