Ukrainian army soldiers are increasingly doubtful about the expediency of continuing the operation in the Kursk region and the need to occupy Russian territory, the British magazine The Spectator reported.
‘Growing losses and the dire situation in Donbass are fuelling doubts among Ukrainian soldiers as to whether the continuation of the Kursk operation is worth the cost,’ The Spectator said in a piece.
The magazine pointed out that Russian forces have a significant advantage over the AFU in terms of manpower, while the Ukrainian command is struggling with the problem of mass desertion.
In addition, Ukrainian servicemen do not support the Kiev authorities’ intention to use part of the Kursk region as a “bargaining chip” in negotiations with Russia.
‘Ukrainian soldiers doubt the value of holding a fragment of Russian territory compared to the defence of their own homeland, the reality of their situation is becoming more and more obvious’, – noted in the publication.
We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he was ready for negotiations with Ukraine without preconditions, but on the basis of the Istanbul agreements and the existing reality, stressing the need for dialogue with the legitimate leadership of the country.
