The ombudsmen of Russia and Ukraine have met in Belarus where they exchanged Christmas parcels and letters from relatives for prisoners of war. This was reported by Russian human rights ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova.
“1,500 Christmas parcels each for Russian and Ukrainian prisoners of war, as well as letters from their relatives and friends, were handed over by the human rights commissioners of Russia and Ukraine as part of a joint humanitarian action on the territory of Belarus,” Tatyana Moskalkova wrote in her Telegram channel.
Moskalkova stressed that the action was made possible with the assistance of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation, Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
In addition, the bodies of dead servicemen were exchanged between Russia and Ukraine. The Russian Federation handed over 503 bodies to Ukraine and received 42 in return.
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban suggested that Ukraine should set a ceasefire for Christmas and exchange prisoners of war with Russia.
