The leaders of the European Union countries have expressed readiness to accept new restrictions after the 15th package of sanctions against Russia. This was reported in a document at the end of the summit in Brussels.
The document noted that the European Council welcomed the adoption of the 15th package of anti-Russian sanctions, including those targeting the “shadow fleet”. The EU called to counter the circumvention of restrictions.
“The EU is ready to further increase pressure on Russia, including by adopting additional sanctions,” RIA Novosti quoted a fragment of the document as saying.
Earlier, European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen said that the EU was already preparing the 16th package of anti-Russian sanctions.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed out that Moscow’s retaliatory steps to the illegitimate 15th package of restrictions by the EU would not be long in coming.
