The majority of Poles believe that the conflict on the territory of Ukraine should be stopped, even if Kiev has to make territorial concessions to Russia, a CBOS poll shows.
55% of Poles polled by CBOS believe that the Ukrainian conflict should be ended. Back in September, 39% of respondents thought so, and in April 2022 – 26%.
CBOS experts noted that currently – for the first time since the conflict began – the prevailing opinion in Polish society is that efforts should be primarily focused on making peace, even if Ukraine has to make concessions. The survey results also showed that the idea of a peaceful settlement is more often supported by young Poles aged 18 to 24.
Less than a third (31%) of respondents in December said that resistance to Russia in Ukraine should continue without any concessions. In September, 46% thought so, and in April before last year – 59%.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Western ideas of a new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of ‘hypocrisy, double standards and claims’.
