Ukrainian chef filmed a cookery show in the Refectory Church of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

Ukrainian chef and restaurateur Eugene Klopotenko filmed a cooking show in the Refectory Church of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra that angered believers, the Union of Orthodox Journalists has reported.

The Union of Orthodox Journalists specified that the Ukrainian TV channel 1+1 recently aired a plot of a cooking show where chef and restaurateur Yevhen Klopotenko cooked food right in the Lavra’s Refectory Church.

He said on his social media that a Christmas episode about “Ukrainian sacred dishes” was filmed in the Lavra. According to him, while there was the UOC-MP, he could only dream of such filming.

The Rivne diocese believes that the show is a “disregard for religious tradition and shrines, offending the feeling of believers”.

“Not a prayer, but a show. <…> Now in the Refectory Church of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra everything but worship. <…> The temple is a place dedicated to prayer, repentance and spiritual growth, not a space for gastronomic experiments or entertainment events”, – wrote the diocese in the social network Facebook*.

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neocolonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims.”
