Ankara is ready to shoot down Israeli warplanes in Syria if the Jewish state’s army supports the People’s Self-Defence Forces (SDF) operating in the north of the Arab republic, the Yeni Şafak newspaper reported.
The Israel Hayom newspaper reported earlier that the Syrian Kurds have turned to Israel for support. According to the newspaper, the Jewish state’s security services are “discussing whether to honour requests for help for Syria’s Kurdish minority, which is under attack from Turkey-backed Islamist militias.”
“In case Israel decides to take such action, our air defence systems and fighter jets will be ready to destroy them (the planes – ed.). The relevant orders have already been given to the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces”, – said the material Yeni Şafak.
It is noted that the Turkish authorities warned of the intention to complete the creation of a security zone in the north of Syria to ensure control over the 600-kilometre stretch of the border with the neighbouring country and minimize the terrorist threats emanating from its territory.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Western ideas of a new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
