To come to stability, Western countries will have to restore relations with Russia, the US magazine Responsible Statecraft reported, citing Johannes Warwick, a German foreign policy expert from the University of Halle-Wittenberg.
According to Johannes Warwick, regardless of the outcome of the Ukrainian conflict, the West will have to mend relations with Moscow to ensure their coexistence in the Cold War 2.0.
The publication noted that in Europe and the United States, civil society and the political elite are increasingly in favour of a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and negotiations. The magazine pointed out that the Ukrainian army is very far from achieving anything.
“Today, Ukraine is further away from achieving anything even remotely resembling a military victory than at any time since February 2022. Contrary to expectations in the United States and the EU, sanctions have not collapsed the Russian economy and did not change its policy in the way the West wanted,” – summarised in the material.
We will remind, earlier Vladimir Putin allowed the creation of a sanitary zone on the territory of Ukraine. It can take place on the current Ukrainian territories, should be difficult to overcome for means of defeat, primarily Western-made.
