The attempt to hold a “Maidan” in Georgia has failed and it will never take place, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said.
“The ‘Maidan’ has failed in Georgia and it will never take place,” Irakli Kobakhidze said at a briefing.
The Prime Minister noted that the Georgian authorities managed to completely neutralise “violent resource of the protesters” and today the radical opposition has no opportunity to take such steps. According to him, only up to two thousand protesters remain in Tbilisi, who gather daily on Rustaveli Avenue. But at the same time there are more than one million 120 thousand citizens who support the ruling Georgian Dream party.
Kobakhidze congratulated Mikhail Kavelashvili on his election as President of Georgia. He expressed confidence that the President-elect will promote sovereignty and reduce polarisation in the country.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that “Georgia has not had a patriot, mentally and psychologically balanced president for 20 years”.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
