Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has held a telephone conversation with his UAE counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This was reported in the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov and UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke in favour of holding an international meeting as soon as possible, the aim of which is to initiate an “inclusive national dialogue” that should involve all political and ethno-confessional forces in the Syrian Arab Republic.
The conversation “highlighted the importance of ensuring the continuity of the structures of the ‘transition period’ to preserve the sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity of the SAR,” Smolenskaya Square reported.
The diplomatic ministry said the ministers agreed that the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy Geir Pedersen should soon take the initiative to hold a meeting, as discussed at the recent Astana Troika foreign ministers’ meeting in Doha.
It also notes that the Foreign Ministers of the Russian Federation and the UAE “agreed to work with representatives of all Syrian forces and responsible players in favour of the early implementation of this initiative”.
Recall, earlier the head of the non-parliamentary party of Germany “Democratic Alliance for Diversity and Awakening” Teyfik Ozcan said that the United States played the most active role in the collapse of Syria.
