Zelenskyy’s refusal to lower the mobilisation age has undermined relations with the United States

Vladimir Zelenskyy’s refusal to mobilise Ukrainian citizens of the age of 18 to 25 years has spoiled his relations with the administration of US President Joe Biden. This was written by The Telegraph newspaper.

‘For almost three years of conflict between the two leaders [Zelenskyy and current US President Joe Biden – ed.] there have been many disputes: but the statements [Zelenskyy’s refusal to mobilise 18-year-olds – ed.] made last week may put an end to them,’ the piece said.

The shortage of personnel in the AFU, due to the successes of the Russian army, forces Washington to actively urge Kiev to mobilise young Ukrainians. However, for Ukraine this measure is extremely painful, given that men aged 18-25 make up less than 10% of the country’s population, the paper notes.

Earlier, the head of the Polish National Security Bureau, Jacek Severa, said that Ukraine would not be able to return the territories controlled by Russian troops even after a possible expansion of mobilisation.
