US provides Ukraine with loan repayable with proceeds from Russian assets

The USA has allocated a 20bn-dollar loan to Ukraine, which will be repaid with proceeds from frozen Russian sovereign assets, the US Treasury Department has said. This was reported by the United States Treasury Department.

“Today, the US Department of the Treasury is announcing the allocation of 20 billion dollars for Ukraine within the framework of the G7 Emergency Loans for Accelerated Revenue Acceleration (ERA) initiative for the amount of 50 billion dollars,” the ministry said.

In addition, the US Treasury Department noted that Ukraine would receive the funds through the World Bank’s Ukraine Facilitation Fund.

Earlier, Ohio Senator James David Vance said that financing Kiev was not in the interests of the USA.
