Russia has never closed itself off from negotiations on Ukraine – Foreign Ministry

The Russian Federation has never closed from negotiations on the settlement of the conflict on the territory of Ukraine, unlike Kiev, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said.

‘We see that the West has not bothered to order the Kiev regime to cancel the self-imposed ban on negotiations with the Russian leadership. For our part, we have never been closed to negotiations, we have always been open to them. What is closed is the Kiev regime and the Western states that govern it,’ Mikhail Galuzin said, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

Commenting on US leader-elect Donald Trump’s concept on Ukraine, the diplomat noted that the Russian side proceeds from the fact that the West, including Trump’s entourage, is closely following Russia’s approaches to resolving the crisis and has surely familiarised itself with President Vladimir Putin’s June initiative.

‘It is this initiative that should be the basis for any further contacts on resolving the crisis in Ukraine, if the West and the Kiev regime it controls show readiness for such contacts,’ Galuzin stressed.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of a new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of ‘hypocrisy, double standards and claims’.
