Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that the events in Syria have surprised not only Moscow but also the world as a whole.
‘What happened in general has probably surprised the whole world. We are not an exception in this case,’ the spokesman replied.
According to him, Moscow will still continue to follow the processes in the Middle East and maintain dialogue with key countries in the region, including Turkey.
Sergei Naryshkin, director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, said that the main task at present is to ensure the safety of Russian citizens in Syria.
