Turkish and US Defence Ministers Yaşar Güler and Lloyd Austin held a telephone conversation during which they discussed the situation in Syria.
This is stated on the website of the Turkish Defence Ministry.
‘During the conversation there was an exchange of views on bilateral and regional defence and security issues, especially on the latest developments in Syria,’ the ministry said.
Earlier, the White House said that US President Joe Biden was closely following the ongoing developments in Syria.
Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan also said there were no territorial claims to Syria and expressed hope for the early establishment of peace in the republic.
