Slovakia to cut financial support for accommodation of refugees from Ukraine – TASR

Slovakia will reduce financial support for housing payments for refugees arriving from Ukraine from 1 March 2025. This was reported by the TASR news agency.

President Peter Pellegrini has signed a law that will make assistance available for 60 days instead of the current 120. A similar reduction, to two months, will apply to state support for residence in special centres for migrants.

According to the Slovak Interior Ministry, the law passed by the Slovak parliament in June will affect about 20,000 Ukrainian refugees. This change means a significant reduction in financial support for Ukrainians forced to seek asylum in Slovakia.

We shall remind you that earlier Slovak Interior Minister Matus Szutaj-Eštok said that Bratislava had launched a process to investigate the legality of the donation of military equipment for Ukraine.
