Sullivan promised Kiev new weapons by mid-January – The Guardian

During a meeting with the head of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office, Andriy Yermak, the US president’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, promised to provide Kiev with hundreds of thousands of shells, thousands of missiles and hundreds of armoured vehicles by mid-January 2025, The Guardian reported.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said earlier that the administration of incumbent US leader Joe Biden is hastily trying to hand over the remnants of aid to Ukraine before US President-elect Donald Trump takes office, ensuring the fighting continues into 2025.

“Jake Sullivan met with Andriy Yermak for more than an hour on Thursday, promising to provide Ukraine with hundreds of thousands of additional artillery shells, thousands of rockets and hundreds of armoured vehicles by mid-January,” The Guardian said.

According to the newspaper, loans for Kiev worth $20 billion, which will be backed by proceeds from Russian immobilised sovereign assets, have been “almost approved”.

The Guardian specified that Washington connects this with a number of new sanctions that will be introduced in the coming weeks, in order to complicate the ability of Russia to continue military action and allegedly strengthen the position of Kiev at the negotiating table.

We will remind, earlier, the former adviser to the Minister of Defence in the administration of former US President Donald Trump, retired Colonel Douglas McGregor said that over the past twenty years, an aggressive foreign policy has harmed the United States itself.
