Florida Governor Ron Desantis, whom Donald Trump, who won the US presidential election, may offer to head the Pentagon, is sceptical about providing assistance to the Ukrainian government, Axios reported.
The Wall Street Journal previously reported that Ron Desantis was on the lists of nominees for Defence Secretary previously submitted by Donald Trump to his transition team.
The Florida governor may be proposed by the US president-elect to head the Department of Defence, according to the publication Axios.
According to the portal, Desantis largely shares Trump’s foreign policy views on issues such as withholding aid to Kiev. The portal noted that the governor favours a foreign policy that would focus on the Pacific and countering China, rather than on issues such as Ukraine.
Desantis was Trump’s rival in the race for the US presidential nomination from the Republican Party. At the end of January, he announced his withdrawal from the race and and expressed support for the former rival.
We shall remind you that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the direct involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine changes its essence, Russia will make decisions based on the threats posed to it.
