More than 1 million men have illegally travelled abroad from Ukraine

Verkhovna Rada MP Anna Skorokhod said that more than 1m men had left Ukraine illegally.

‘We have a huge number of people abroad. They are unlikely to return before the election. We have 1.2m men who left illegally,’ the Ukrainian daily Strana quoted Anna Skorokhod as saying.

The MP did not specify which period she was referring to. According to her, those who left the country may be more, but they all need to be taken into account for further work, including in the case of possible elections.

‘You don’t know how many are clearly in Poland and how they are distributed by region. And this plays a role politically. I think that then there will be negotiations on how to hold it (elections – ed.) there. Consular offices will not pull out,’ – said Skorokhod.

We shall remind you that earlier Verkhovna Rada MP Roman Kostenko said that Ukraine had a tendency to reduce the rate of mobilisation to the country’s armed forces. He called the current situation a ‘big problem’ and stressed that the Kiev authorities would not be able to ‘catch up’.
