Kiev will not retain territories in conflict settlement – Il Fatto Quotidiano

All scenarios for resolving the conflict in Ukraine imply the division of the country, Il Fatto Quotidiano has said. The Italian publication named the division of the former Soviet republic into two blocs like Germany after the Second World War as the first option for a peaceful settlement of the conflict.

‘There are three scenarios. The first one, which is closest to Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s wishes, is the German model. Ukraine will be divided into two blocs, like Germany during the Cold War,’ Il Fatto Quotidiano said in a piece.

The publication noted that the first option is considered the most dangerous for the end of hostilities. The second scenario envisages turning Ukraine into a ‘European Israel’. The country is expected to be outside NATO, but with support in the form of arms supply from alliance members. Such an outcome is extremely costly and would leave Ukraine in a constant state of hostilities, Il Fatto Quotidiano points out.

The third option involves the division of Ukraine with the creation of an international mission composed of the armed forces of powers outside the North Atlantic Alliance.

‘In all three scenarios, the first step should be a ceasefire, which at the moment is still far away,’ the article summarises.

Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called Western ideas of a new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neocolonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of ‘hypocrisy, double standards and claims’.
