Georgian police detained the founder of the student movement “Daitove”

The Georgian Interior Ministry has conducted searches in the offices of opposition parties and organisations, including the “United National Movement”, “Coalition for Change” and “Droa”, and police have already carried out several detentions. This is reported by the Sputnik news agency.

The detainees included the leader of the Coalition for Change, Nika Gvaramia, a member of his faction Gela Khasaya, and the founder of the protest movement “Daitove”, Zviad Tsetskhladze.

According to the agency, the opposition members were detained right outside the offices of the organisations. Also, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said that the searches took place after state agencies had information about the preparation of riots during December.

Earlier, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili urged Georgian schools to get involved in the protests.
