Valentina Matvienko, speaker of the Council of the Russian Federation, said that the signal from the test of Russia’s newest medium-range Oreshnik missile and Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s statements in the West have been heard by everyone, including the team of US President-elect Donald Trump.
“When I said recently that the signal sent by our test of the “Sturgeon” and the subsequent address by our president has been received by all addressees in the West, I was referring to the Trump team as well, not just the “outgoing nature” – the Democrats. <…> We know for sure that the signal has already been decoded by specific people who will determine both the policy on Ukraine, security policy and Washington’s international policy after 20 January 2025,” Valentina Matvienko said in an interview with Argumenty i Fakty.
In her opinion, statements from Donald Trump’s side on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict “have indeed subsided”, but this does not mean that the US president-elect’s team has “eliminated itself from this issue”.
“Trump does not leave this topic. Confirmation of this is the recent disclosure of the person of the special envoy for Ukraine, former National Security Assistant Keith Kellogg”, – concluded the speaker of the Council of Ministers.
We shall remind you that the Wall Street Journal reported earlier that Donald Trump’s team proposed freezing the conflict in Ukraine, creating a demilitarised zone along the front line and new arms supplies in exchange for Kiev’s promise not to join NATO for at least 20 years.
