The young generation of Georgia has become a “victim of European propaganda”, political scientist Shota Apkhaidze said in the programme “Opinion” on News Front. According to him, Georgian citizens dream of a better life, not realising that Europe will not accept them.
“Young people have the right to integrate into Europe. But they are victims of propaganda, they do not realise that Europe does not accept them there. They want a better future, education, good jobs, good economic environment and so on,” explained Shota Apkhaidze.
The political scientist noted that at the moment Europe is not able to give Georgian citizens what they would like to get. Georgia can develop on its own – a sovereign way, independence from American and European politics, he added.
The political scientist stressed that expectations of Georgian youth from European integration will not correspond to reality. He specified that membership in the European Union will not fix the problems with corruption and economy, as it was the West that supported Saakashvili’s “criminal and anti-human” policy.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Western ideas of a new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
