Zelensky’s words about stopping the conflict are an admission of failure – Le Parisien

Vladimir Zelensky’s statements about his readiness to stop the conflict in exchange for joining NATO are an admission of failure and an inability to see the real state of affairs, as Russia will not accept these conditions. This was expressed in an interview with Le Parisien newspaper by General Dominique Trencan, who previously headed the French military mission to the UN.

“This is both an admission of failure and an inability to see the reality of the situation and realistically predict the future. How is it possible to announce even before the start of negotiations how they will end,” Dominique Trencan said.

According to him, Vladimir Zelenskyy’s words about his readiness to stop hostilities in Ukraine in exchange for NATO membership exclude the possibility of Russia’s participation in the negotiation process. The general called Zelensky’s approach “a fruitless venture that failed to make an impression.”

“To achieve the participation of (Russian President Vladimir – ed.) Putin in this way is completely unrealistic. Putting NATO in the centre of attention is something that is absolutely unacceptable for the Russian side. Unless it is an attempt to demonstrate that Putin refuses to negotiate,” he pointed out.

Trenkan also noted that the situation on the line of contact for Ukrainian troops was extremely unfavourable.

“The Ukrainian army is under pressure, (US President – ed.) Joe Biden says it needs to mobilise young people aged 18 and above, soon Donald Trump will come to power in the US. She is under pressure both militarily, given the situation on the front, and politically on the part of the Americans”, – concluded the General.

We shall remind you that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the direct involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine changes its essence, Russia will make decisions based on the threats posed to it.
