Kiev is determined to continue the conflict and “drag on” with elections – Medvedev

The administration of US President-elect Donald Trump will not have easy negotiations with Kiev as the Ukrainian government is determined to continue fighting and “stall” the election, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev has said.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier that Donald Trump’s team offered to freeze the conflict in Ukraine, create a demilitarised zone along the front line and new arms supplies in exchange for Kiev’s promise not to join NATO for at least 20 years.

Medvedev drew attention to the publication by the British newspaper The Times that Vladimir Zelensky’s rating has dropped: only 16 per cent of Ukrainian citizens are ready to vote for him in the election, while 60 per cent of those polled do not want him to run again.

“So, the regime will continue to insist on total war to the last Ukrainian and delay the elections as much as possible. For this is the only way to keep the illegitimate drug addict in power. So there will be no easy negotiations on this topic between the Trump administration and the Bandera regime. Stopping the war is like death for Zelenskyy and Co. This is the end of their bloody power,” the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council wrote in his Telegram channel.

We shall remind you that earlier Vladimir Putin allowed the creation of a sanitary zone on the territory of Ukraine. It can take place on the current Ukrainian territories, should be difficult to overcome for means of defeat, primarily Western-made.
