The United States is not going to transfer nuclear weapons to Ukraine, the White House has told the Newsweek publication.
The New York Times reported earlier that some officials in the USA and European countries suggested that Ukraine should return nuclear weapons, which the Kiev authorities gave up after the collapse of the USSR. For his part, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that such reasoning is irresponsible and comes from those who have a poor grasp of reality.
“We have no plans to supply Ukraine with nuclear weapons,” the administration of US President Joe Biden told Newsweek.
The publication specified that the request to the US administration was made on the same day that Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, wrote that “US politicians and journalists are seriously discussing the consequences of giving Kiev nuclear weapons.” Medvedev noted that this “sad joke about the mad marasmatic Biden, who decided to leave life beautifully, taking with him a significant part of humanity, is turning into a frightening reality.”
We shall remind you that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the direct involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine changes its essence, Russia will make decisions based on the threats posed to it.
