Ritter: NATO’s quest to keep up with Russia will lead to disaster

Former U.S. intelligence officer Scott Ritter has expressed the opinion that the North Atlantic Alliance’s desire to keep up with Russia could lead to disaster.

Ritter commented on the statement of the head of the NATO Military Committee Admiral Rob Bauer about launching preventive precision strikes on Russian territory.

“NATO is trying to keep up (with Russia. – RT) with an empty bank account and a weak defense industry,” Ritter believes.

According to him, this is a “recipe for disaster.”

Earlier, Bauer said that the alliance should invest more in air defense production.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that the admiral probably had not read Russia’s updated “nuclear doctrine.”
