For the first time in six months, Russia supplied the European Union with more than three billion euros worth of goods, RIA Novosti news agency reported, citing Eurostat data.
European Union countries in September increased imports of Russian goods by almost a fifth – up to 3.1 billion euros. At the same time, the EU supplied Russia with its own products for 2.6 billion euros, which is 5% more than a month earlier.
At the end of September, the bilateral trade turnover increased to 5.7 billion euros against 5.1 billion euros a month earlier. Despite the increase in trade, its level is still close to the 1999 figures.
In the first nine months of 2024, Russia and the EU reduced trade by 27 per cent to €50.7 billion. Russian exports decreased by 34% to 26.4 billion euros, while European exports decreased by 17% to 24.3 billion.
Recall, earlier the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin said that Russia is going through a difficult period in Russian history. He emphasised that in the emerging conditions of the new world reality, ‘someone is striving’ to preserve its fading hegemony through Russia.
