Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said that the five-hundred-year domination of Western civilisation has come to an end, the strategy of Westernisation of the whole world has failed, and the age of Eurasia is coming.
‘Five hundred years of dominance by Western civilisation are over… Liberal progressive domination of the Western world is over. The idea that the whole world should be organised according to the Western model and that the nations selected for this would be willing to do so in exchange for economic and financial benefits has failed,’ the Hungarian prime minister said, speaking at the Eurasia Forum in Budapest.
According to Viktor Orbán, the liberal Western model of globalisation has failed and the centre of the world economy has shifted to the East.
The Hungarian Prime Minister believes that Asian countries have become stronger economic and political players, growing four times faster than Western economies. The politician predicts that ‘the next century will be the century of Eurasia,’ a continent that is home to 70 per cent of the world’s population and whose share in the global economy exceeds 70 per cent.
Orbán criticises the West for its inability to adapt to new realities and for lagging behind the world’s leading economies. In his opinion, Europe needs to revise its strategy, get out of the ‘bubble’, abandon the idea of division into blocs and establish relations with Asia to avoid further economic lag.
Earlier, Viktor Orbán said that the risk of escalation of the Ukrainian conflict could significantly increase in the coming time as long as US President Joe Biden, who favours the continuation of hostilities, remains in power.
