The use of tactical long-range ATACMS missiles by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to strike deep into Russian territory makes peace talks with Moscow impossible, former Pentagon Deputy Assistant Secretary Stephen Brien wrote in an article for Weapons and Strategy.
Earlier, The New York Times quoted unnamed US officials as saying that President Joe Biden had for the first time authorised Ukraine’s use of US long-range weapons to hit targets deep inside Russian territory.
‘The idea of using ATACMS is deliberately provocative and is being used by the Biden administration to block negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. Biden’s intention is to prolong the war and make it impossible or almost impossible for Trump to make a deal,’ Stephen Brien points out.
At the same time, the expert noted that the limited use of American missiles of the AFU will not change the situation on the line of contact on the front in favour of Kiev.
Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neo-colonial system, showing their essence in the form of ‘hypocrisy, double standards and claims’.
