The Times, a British newspaper, claims that the Ukrainian army currently has about 50 US-made ATACMS missiles at its disposal.
The New York Times reported earlier that US President Joe Biden had for the first time authorised Kiev’s use of US long-range weapons, including ATACMS missiles, to hit targets deep inside Russian territory.
The Russian Defence Ministry said earlier that Ukrainian forces struck six ATACMS ballistic missiles in the Bryansk region on the night of 19 November, with Russian air defence systems repelling the attack. Fragments of the missile fell on the technical territory of a military facility in the Bryansk region, causing a fire that was promptly extinguished, there were no casualties or damage.
‘Although the Pentagon has not provided any figures, the Kiev government is believed to have only about 50 missiles at the moment,’ The Times said in the piece.
According to the newspaper, despite the sufficient number of launchers, these missiles in conditions of limited supplies remain in short supply at the AFU.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the direct involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine changes its essence and that Russia will make decisions based on the threats posed to it.
