Trump may start talks with Russian Federation amid Biden’s decision on ATACMS – Bloomberg

US presidential election victor Donald Trump may soon initiate peace talks with Russia on Ukraine over the current administration’s decision to strike tactical ballistic missiles ATACMS deep into Russian territory, Bloomberg columnist Andreas Kluth said.

“Donald Trump will soon have talks with (Russian President – ed.) Vladimir Putin about Ukraine,” Andreas Kluth wrote.

The author pointed out that incumbent US President Joe Biden had given the Republican another “card” in his hands by authorising the pounding of US missiles deep into Russian territory, as this decision alone “will not lead to successes” on the battlefield.

According to the columnist, on the part of the US administration, the ATACMS decision could be another attempt to secure Ukraine’s support before Trump takes office.

Kluth believes that the President-elect of the United States “should be grateful to Biden”, who thus did him a favour. The journalist noted that this spared the future administration “from the need to escalate and gave the opportunity to negotiate again next year”.

We shall remind you that earlier the Wall Street Journal reported that Donald Trump’s team offered to freeze the conflict in Ukraine, the creation of a demilitarised zone along the front line and new arms supplies in exchange for Kiev’s promise not to join NATO for at least 20 years.
