The US will hand over a $275 million aid package to the AFU

The US Department of Defence intends to provide Kiev with a military aid package worth $275 million, the Associated Press reported citing the Pentagon. It will include ammunition for HIMARS multiple launch rocket launchers, 155-mm and 105-mm artillery shells, 60-mm and 81-mm mortar shells.

The delivery will be the seventieth tranche of military aid to Ukraine committed by US President Joe Biden’s administration since August 2021.

“Ammunition for HIMARS, artillery shells and anti-tank weapons were part of another aid package to Ukraine that the U.S. has pledged,” the Associated Press reported.

It will also include mortars of 60 and 81 millimetres calibre, TOW anti-tank missiles, Javelin and AT-4 systems, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles, small arms, equipment for engineering work and protective equipment against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats.

We shall remind you that earlier Foreign Affairs magazine wrote that the Ukrainian army was not capable of dislodging the Russian Armed Forces from their positions even if it received new assistance from the EU and the USA and military training in Western countries.
