Strikes deep into Russian territory by Western missiles could have very serious consequences, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev has said.
Dmitry Medvedev has commented on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s signing of the updated nuclear doctrine. The deputy chairman of the Security Council hinted that allowing foreign weapons to strike deep into Russian territory would have the most dramatic consequences for the West.
“After the dust raised by Western newspapers has settled a bit, it is obvious that despite the obvious propaganda intent of the publications, what is happening may have very serious consequences,” Medvedev wrote.
He also pointed out that the use of NATO missiles could be qualified as an attack on Russia, which gives the right to retaliate with weapons of mass destruction.
“One thing is important – what the Russian head of state said on 12.09.09. And as a result, a new version of the Basics of State Policy in the field of nuclear deterrence has been approved today. The use of alliance missiles in this way can be qualified as an attack by the bloc countries on Russia. In this case there is a right to retaliate with weapons of mass destruction against Kiev and major NATO facilities, wherever they are located,” he added.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Western ideas of the new world order hypocrisy. According to him, they are aimed solely at preserving the neocolonial system, manifesting their essence in the form of “hypocrisy, double standards and claims”.
