Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict will have a negative impact on the economic performance of the United States.
Dmitry Medvedev recalled that the newly elected US President Donald Trump during his first cadence actively advocated for the replacement of Russian gas in Europe with American LNG. In addition, Washington has now multiplied LNG supplies to Europe, said the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council.
In this vein, the politician stressed that one of Moscow’s conditions within the framework of negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis is the cancellation of all sanctions, including those related to Russian gas supplies to Europe.
‘The conclusion of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict may undermine the position of US liquefied natural gas in the Old World (one of our conditions is the cancellation of sanctions). What will turn out to be more important: election promises or money? The question is rhetorical,’ Medvedev wrote in his Telegram channel.
Earlier, The New York Times wrote that Kiev was more interested in security guarantees than in territorial concessions in favour of Russia in the conditions of Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election.
