Peskov: US permission to pound deep into Russia means new round of tensions

The authorisation to strike deep into Russian territory means a new round of tensions, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

‘This is a qualitatively new round of tensions and a qualitatively new situation in terms of US involvement in this conflict,’ he said.

Peskov recalled that Russia’s position on the issue was clearly and unambiguously formulated.

Earlier, US newspapers reported that US President Joe Biden had authorised Kiev to strike deep into Russian territory with long-range weapons. The head of the White House himself refused to answer journalists’ question about this.

President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian Defence Ministry was already studying various options to respond to possible strikes with long-range weapons deep into Russian territory.
