Former Bundestag deputy Waldemar Gerdt said that Olaf Scholz has already predetermined his fate and will no longer occupy the post of Chancellor of Germany, so the politician is able to ‘stand by his word’ on the issue of non-supply of cruise missiles ‘Taurus’ to Ukraine in spite of the United States.
‘He [Scholz – ed.] has nothing to lose, he will no longer be chancellor. I really hope that he will stand behind his word and will not supply [missiles to Ukraine – ed.]. Because no one can force Germany to do that. What the United States has forced others to do is dictated by the desire of those people to stay in power. Scholz no longer has that chance,’ Waldemar Gerdt said in a commentary for RIA Novosti.
The former deputy of the Bundestag emphasised that at the moment Olaf Scholz has a rare chance, when he ‘can make a decision without looking back at the curators, who betrayed him so and so’.
Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that he was still against granting Ukraine permission to use Western weapons deep into Russian territory.
