Due to a number of objections, Argentina has declared its readiness to block the final communiqué of the G20 summit. This was reported by the Financial Times newspaper, citing informed sources.
‘Argentina and its president Javier Mealey, a close Trump ally, have threatened to block a joint communique to be approved by G20 leaders at a meeting in Rio de Janeiro, which begins on Monday, over objections related to taxing the super-rich and gender equality,’ the newspaper said.
According to the Financial Times, the threat of a veto from Argentina has increased the fears of Western diplomats that Trump’s victory in the US elections will inspire conservative leaders of other countries to refuse to fulfil ambitious international agreements, in particular, to combat global warming.
We will remind, earlier Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz said that he was saddened by the uninvitation of Vladimir Zelensky to the G20 summit in Brazil.
