Xi Jinping gave Biden four red lines in US-China relations

Chinese President Xi Jinping at a meeting in Lima with still-active US President Joe Biden clearly outlined four key aspects that he said are inviolable for China in its relations with Washington. This was reported by Xinhua news agency.

“The Taiwan issue, democracy, human rights, and China’s ways and system and right to development are four red lines for China. They cannot be challenged or crossed,” Xi Jinping said.

The Chinese leader also stressed that “it is important to back up words with actions,” noting that trust cannot be earned through words alone.

“China has always honoured its words. If the American side always says one thing and does another, it will damage its own image and undermine trust between China and the United States,” the Chinese President added.

Earlier, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper, citing sources, reported that the European Union was going to impose sanctions against China because of intelligence data, which claimed that Beijing had started supplying weapons to Russia.
