Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog could not take part in the UN climate summit (COP-29) in Baku because of Turkey’s refusal to grant permission for the Israeli presidential plane to fly through its airspace. This was reported by Milliyet newspaper with reference to Israeli and Turkish diplomatic sources.
Earlier, Israel explained the cancellation of the president’s visit to Azerbaijan with “security reasons”, but according to Milliyet, the real reason lies in the Turkish refusal. Azerbaijani officials confirmed the information.
“The real reason was Turkey’s refusal to allow an Israeli presidential plane to pass through its airspace. Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronot, which investigated the report Caliber News, known for its closeness to the Azerbaijani government, reported that Azerbaijani officials confirmed the news to them,” the newspaper said.
Earlier, Iran Press reported that protesters in Turkey attacked the port of Ambarli after the arrival of an Israeli ship.
