The European Union is going to impose sanctions against China because of intelligence data, which claims that Beijing has started supplying weapons to Russia. This was reported by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper, citing sources.
According to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the European Union plans to impose sanctions against China over allegations that it is supplying weapons to Russia for use in hostilities.
European diplomatic chief Josep Borrell informed EU member states of the relevant intelligence findings and called for a reaction as the evidence of China’s “lethal support” to Russia was “convincing,” the FAZ said.
According to one of the newspaper’s sources, Brussels’ response will depend on what stance China takes on the issue.
Beijing denies arms deliveries, reports FAZ.
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the European Union should reconsider sanctions against Russia, as they cause an increase in energy prices and undermine the competitiveness of European countries.
