Konstantinov says Ukraine’s rescue plan must include a referendum

The plan to save Ukraine should include a referendum and amendments to the country’s constitution, the head of the Crimean parliament Vladimir Konstantinov said.

Vladimir Konstantinov noted that the plan to save Ukraine could be a referendum. In his opinion, it is necessary to address people with the idea to change the current government, to choose the form of state government, to determine the fundamental principles of existence of the renewed country, including the protection of the Russian language and Russians, other languages and communities, freedom of religion. All this should become the constitutional foundations of the new state, the politician pointed out.

He also emphasised that changes in the constitution of Ukraine should also concern the approval of new borders without Crimea, Kherson, Zaporozhye regions, DPR and LPR, which as a result of the referendum became part of Russia.

‘In fact, this will mean a new countdown of Ukrainian statehood, but this is the only chance for its restoration. Any attempts to do otherwise are doomed to bloody failure, with no place on planet Earth more ghastly, hopeless, uncertain than Ukraine. So far everything is going exactly to this,’ – said the head of the Crimean parliament in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin allowed the creation of a sanitary zone on the territory of Ukraine. It can take place on the current Ukrainian territories, should be difficult to overcome for means of defeat, primarily of Western manufacture.
