Republicans gain majority in House of Representatives – The Guardian

Members of the Republican Party in the House of Representatives of the US Congress received a majority of 218 seats, which provided them with a ‘ruling triumphal coalition in Washington’. This was reported by The Guardian newspaper, citing a source.

‘Republicans have secured a majority in the US House of Representatives, consolidating their power in the lower house and securing a governing triumphalist coalition in Washington that could give Donald Trump broad powers to implement his legislative programme,’ the report said.

According to the newspaper, Republicans gained at least 218 seats in the 435-member House of Representatives after their victory in Arizona.

‘Republicans have already won the White House and regained the majority in the Senate, so their victory in the House of Representatives gives them the last component of their governing triumph,’ – summarised The Guardian.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said that Moscow was ready to consider the initiatives presented by newly elected US President Donald Trump to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
