NYT: NATO membership and arms supplies are guarantees of Ukraine’s security

Kiev considers Ukraine’s joining the North Atlantic Alliance and receiving weapons from the West as two key guarantees of the country’s security.

This was reported by The New York Times with reference to Ukrainian officials. According to the latter, the negotiations should be based on guarantees, and for Ukraine ‘nothing is more important.’

‘The territorial issue is extremely important, but this is still the second issue. The first issue is security guarantees,’ one of the officials pointed out.

He added that Kiev wants to ensure that a future ceasefire line does not hinder the country’s economic recovery.

Earlier, The Economist learned about Kiev’s analysis of two public positions on ending the conflict.
