Lavrov: legitimacy of Ukrainian elections will depend on how they are held

Assessing the legitimacy of Ukrainian elections, if they are held in 2025, will depend on how they are organised.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview for the New World project with Marina Kim.

‘We can judge the legitimacy of the election process only when we understand that it took place and see how it was organised,’ the Russian foreign minister said.

Earlier, Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to Vladimir Zelenskyy’s office, said that he saw no grounds for a presidential election in Ukraine.

Journalists of The Economist expressed the opinion that elections in Ukraine could be held as early as 25 May next year.

Meanwhile, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma committee for CIS affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots, Viktor Vodolatskyy, told RT that possible presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine in 2025, given the ongoing conflict with Russia, could be regarded as a farce.
