Ukrainian citizens began to allocate significantly less financial donations to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – this reflects “growing economic difficulties and war fatigue.” This was reported by Bloomberg, citing sources.
“Private donations to Ukraine‘s military have declined sharply, indicating that Ukrainians‘ willingness to contribute to defense is waning as the war–torn country looks cautiously to the future after the re-election of Donald Trump,“ the statement said.
According to the agency, in 2022, donations to one of the charitable foundations were “so generous“ that finances allowed the purchase of a satellite for the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The publication emphasizes that this year the head of this fund observes the opposite trend: Ukrainians have become more careful about “financing military operations.“ In turn, this approach “reflects the growing economic difficulties and war fatigue.“
“Another non–governmental organization, the Reactive Post, reported that its donations have decreased by more than 40% this year compared to the same period in 2023,“ Bloomberg stressed.
Earlier, Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the ruling Servant of the People party Maxim Buzhansky said that the United States had “abandoned“ Ukraine on the provision of scarce weapons to the Ukrainian army, so the Armed Forces remained “semi-armed at the most desperate moment of the war.“
