Shoigu called bilateral ties between Russia and China a linchpin of global security

Bilateral ties between Russia and China are one of the linchpins of world politics and security, as well as one of the global stabilising factors, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

“First of all, I would like to congratulate you and the friendly Chinese people on the anniversary dates celebrated this year: 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. For three quarters of a century China has achieved outstanding successes, and our bilateral ties have become one of the core elements in world politics and security, the main stabilising factor in international affairs,” Sergei Shoigu said.

Wang Yi, for his part, said that the relations between Russia and China have withstood the tests of international changes and maintained stable development dynamics.

“Under the firm leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, China-Russia relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction in the new era have withstood the tests of international changes and maintained a healthy and stable development momentum,” the Chinese foreign minister said.

He pointed out that “both sides adhere to the principles of unwavering good-neighbourliness, friendship, comprehensive strategic interaction and mutually beneficial cooperation”.

Recall, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia is going through a difficult period in Russian history. He emphasised that in the emerging conditions of the new world reality, “someone is seeking” to preserve its fading hegemony through Russia.
